Harry Potter Live in Paris by Shakespeare

Trip to Paris -Visit with the school, January 9th 2013.

When we arrived in Paris after a neverending bus trip, we were divided into two groups. The first one was composed of the T°BPCB, who visited Notre-Dame de Paris, and the other group of the 1ère L & the Euro-class. I’m part of this class and this is the reason why I’m going to speak about the bookshop we visited.

This shop is called "Shakespeare & Company". It’s a special place for a number of reasons.

First, this bookshop sells only books which are written in English (by English-speaking writers or translations from other languages into English). Although it is kind of unusual, I think it’s really interesting.

Added to that, to enter the shop is like coming into a Harry-Potter-magic-wand-shop.

Imagine an ancient house all made out of wood, but not recent wood (it wouldn’t be so magic and fabulous), just genuine old wooden beams. There are bookshelves all around you, filled up with all kinds of books, sometimes old books with yellowed pages, sometimes brand new pieces of writing. But anywhere you’ll go, you’ll be in front of this fantastic array of different stories.

This feeling is enhanced by the wooden ladders moving from left to right used to grab the books.

On the first floor  an old piano stands. It waits for someone to come kindly, touch it softly and make it come to life again... .... ppol

I really enjoyed this fantastic place and I hope you’ll go there one day...!
